I’ve had an interest in ocean liners and cruise ships for nearly 40 years. My love of ships began in grade school when I found a Scholastic Book Services copy about icebergs and glaciers. In those pages I first read about the TITANIC tragedy. Over the following decades my interest grew to other ships, QUEEN MARY, QUEEN ELIZABETH, QE2, UNITED STATES, FRANCE/NORWAY to name just a few.
Currently, I enjoy todays modern cruise ships and do my best to keep up with all the new ships being constructed, orders placed for future deliveries, and all the exciting amenities offered.
My hope for this site is to encourage those who have never cruised before, to stimulate an interest in possibly trying one out and help them learn more of what to expect once on board.
My “homeport” is currently in Fort Worth TX. My crew consists of my wife Susan, along with my 10 year old son, and 7 year old daughter.
I just recently purchased a Cruise Planners franchise. I hope that I can help others discover the right cruise for themselves and find out how enjoyable and affordable a cruise vacation can be.
Comments are most welcome and if anyone has any questions please feel free to email me at:

Great site! Good photos and your articles are very well done. Dave and I are going cruising next March and the information is very interesting and timely. Good luck with your new endeavor!

Thank you, I appreciate your comments. By March, I hope to have a much more useful and hopefully practical site. As you can see this is in the very early stages and I’m sure it will continue to evolve. Where it ends up is anyone’s guess, but I do love it.

We leave Sept. 13 on Carnival Victory heading to Canada what are the chances of the cruise being cancelled due to a hurricane?
Thanks John

John,
Your upcoming cruise on CARNIVAL VICTORY is one I certainly would love. Having grown up in the east, I miss the changes of the season, and this one going through the Northeast, and Canadian maritime provinces should be very colorful.
I doubt that you would experience any delays or cancellations on this cruise. In no way would I swear to the fact, but in reality, very few cruises in the course of a year are actually changed due to weather.
If one takes into account the number of ships that sail on a weekly basis you will find that even when one includes the recent changes due to Gustav, the odds are definitely in your favor.
IF, there are weather related changes, you might just miss a scheduled port of call, or perhaps visit it in a different order than your itinerary lists.
