QUEEN VICTORIA:World Cruise Begins

An exciting event began today as Cunard’s newest vessel, QUEEN VICTORIA, and oldest, QUEEN ELIZABETH 2, began a tandem transatlantic crossing from Southampton.QUEEN VICTORIA, has been in the news with a much publicized incident of what might have been some cases of Norovirus. Despite this, most passengers on her 16 night Maiden Canary Islands Festive Celebration were not effected. The two Cunarders will begin what will end up to be an around the world voyage. QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 will be on her final world cruise before she is withdrawn from service in November 2008.The excitement promises to be on January 13 when the two ships will meet up in New York City with QUEEN MARY 2. This is the first time in Cunard’s 168 year old history that the line has had three “QUEENS”  in service at the same time, and will be the only time these three ships will ever meet. For nautical enthusiasts it will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. Fireworks and fanfare will prevail as the ships will meet in a royal rendezvous near the Statue of Liberty.A look at QUEEN VICTORIA’s 105 “Pathway To The Explorers World Cruise” itinerary:
